Syd Barrett

The myth behind some of rock n’ roll’s most outrageous stories, Syd Barrett was the pioneering songwriter and musical visionary of the greatest psychedelic rock band in history, Pink Floyd.

Though recognised primarily as the founding member of Pink Floyd, Syd, born Roger Keith Barrett, proved himself a talented artist from his early school days. His creative impulse, whether for music or painting, springs as much from cubism, surrealism and pop art as it does literature. It wasn’t until after Syd had left the band in 1968 that he was able to return once again to painting, his earliest creative love.
